Delhi's EV policy may create 20,000 jobs; focus on battery swapping and charging network
Delhi’s EV policy 2.0 may generate up to 20,000 jobs and also set up battery collection centres along with a wide network of charging and swappable battery stations. The purpose of this policy is to encourage EV adoption, and the aim will be to convert two-wheelers, three-wheelers, and goods carriers into electric vehicles. The government has targeted that 95% of all new vehicle registrations will be electric, and by 203,0 it aims to achieve 100% availability of recharging facilities for all types of EVs. The policy also aims to set up skill centres to provide the needed training in the EV ecosystem and aims to launch a public outreach programme to raise awareness among the public regarding the benefits of electric vehicles. As per the draft of the policy, no CNG autos will be allowed, two-wheelers running on petrol or diesel, and CNG will also not be allowed from August 2026, and further new registrations of petrol, diesel, or CNG three-wheelers will also not be allowed from August 15, 2025.
